Hello, I have 3 websites:

http://history.typeheritage.com/ http://forums.typeheritage.com/ http://bazaar.typeheritage.com/

When viewed with Chrome, all are labeled "secure." When viewed with FF, the history and forums sites are not. Instead, they return the attached message.

Unless original work designed by me, all images on all sites are type specimens or trade journal articles from sources like design patents or university libraries (google books, haithi trust, internet archive, etc.).

Can someone figure out why this is happening and tell me how to fix it?

A thousand thanks for your help, Anna

Between these two plugins, all of my WordPress sites are now labeled https:

Really Simple SSL: https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/

WP Force SSL: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-force-ssl/

Pages built with image-intensive TablePress took a day or two to comply; then they suddenly fixed themselves.

Thanks again for setting me on the right path, Anna

Hi, in this example Firefox is right and Chrome is wrong. Some images are sent with http here.

See the attached image.

PS. You can find all unsecure resources using the Network tab in Developer Tools.

Hi TyDraniu, and thanks for your concern.

I am a historian—not a website developer—so I don't understand what you have told me. I managed to find a Developer Tools page, but it has no tabs and there is no link labeled "Network."

Can you explain to me in plain language WHY certain images threaten visitors' privacy and how I can fix this curse that prevents visitors from viewing my content?

Thank you again for trying to help me, Anna

This about loading images via an insecure http:// connection. You can open the Web Console and filter for mixed.

If I check the page source then I notice a lot of links to your website that use the http:// protocol, so it look like you previously used the website without the https: protocol and merly installed a certificate, but failed to update the page source.

As you can see in the second screenshot of the page source, there are 94 references to http: , so there is a lot of work to be done to convert links to https and verify that the links work. Easiest is to leave out the protocol and only leave the two leading slashes.

Thanks so much for this useful clue to what's wrong! Now I am testing Wordpress plugins that claim to change http:// to https:// automatically. So far, the same problems persist. If I find a solution, I will surely post it here to help other WP publishers.

In the meantime, can you recommend a "universal" cure for linking images, text, etc. among the three related sites? For example, a redirect at the server level?

Thanks again, Anna
