security settings
Question, My security preferences says my settings are controlled by my organization. This is a personal win 10 installation. Also third party cookies are re-enabled every time I run firefox according to a spybot scan. My linux installations seem to give me full control without the controlled by organization message. I'm guessing it has something to do with microsoft. I have reinstalled firefox twice without syncing to my account with the same result. Just wondering if you have seen this before. Thank you!!

Hi be02568, this message usually indicates that a file in the program folder is overriding one or more settings. Since these files are usually part of an "enterprise" configuration, Firefox refers to "your organization." However, on a home system, it could be "your security software" or some other cause.
Enterprise Policy
Could you type or paste about:policies in the address bar and press Enter or click the Go button to load that internal page? If there are any active policies, that could trigger the message. If you have any Active policies, what are they? That might help point the finger at the culprit.
Autoconfig File
This is a little hard to explain because the files can have a wide variety of names. However, you would always be able to track down the first one by checking a specific folder. This depends on where Firefox is installed, but you can see which one you have:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref
This folder normally contains a single file named channel-prefs.js (if Windows doesn't show the .js extension, turn on viewing of extensions using the steps in the following article: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-show-file-extensions-in-windows/)
Any other file here may instruct Firefox to load another script file at startup and trigger the "your organization" message.
