I got a new computer and logged in to my already existing Firefox account. I've waited over 24 hours, but none of my bookmarks, history, logins, passwords, etc., will sync to the new machine. I followed the instructions in a help article I found, turning off Firefox sync on all devices, changing the password, connecting sync again, multiple opening/closing of Firefox browser to trigger sync process -- nothing has worked. Any help you can provide will be most appreciated! Thank you.

Sorry, but changing the Firefox Account password clears your data from the Sync server; a fatal mistake to make. There is a warning message about that, which too many users don't bother reading or they don't understand it, when they start in the Firefox Account Reset Password dialog box on the Firefox Account server Logon.

Connect back to your Sync / Firefox Account with the new password, so that your data can be sent to the Sync server again. That will send your data from the old device to the Sync server.

Thank you for your response and suggestions. The steps to follow were posted by Arman Khan to a 6/30/20 post by "mk" entitled "Firefox sync is not syncing bookmarks to a new device." Step #3 clearly states to change your password for your Firefox account. If this is not the right thing to do, maybe someone should take down that post. I printed off the message to PDF format and tried to attach it below, but it will not attach.

I did as you recommended, ensuring that Firefox is synced on my old computer. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox on my new computer, signed in to my account, made sure the sync settings are turned on, and still nothing. If you have any other information, I would appreciate you passing it along.

Is your Firefox user data NOW still on your old computer?
And after you logged into your Firefox Account with the new Password?
AND afterwards too? Like after that old computer was shut down and then restarted?

Please provide a hyperlink to that contributor support posting, so that I can read it for myself. And if it is wrong I can correct it / edit it / provide a warning about it. I will not "condemn" a posting that I didn't read myself. And I ain't gonna search for it, my "search foo" always have been severely lacking (since 1998 when I first entered the WWW) and the search function here @ SUMO just plain sucks. I'm 70 yo and was using PC's since 1984 in my own business. I know "a bit" about computer / electronics, and more of a "hardware guy" than with being able "to do software".

As far as uploading a PDF (or any other file type) -- this forum only allows specific image file type to be posted here, as is common to "screenshots". Been this way since day one of this fora back in 2008.

Thankfully, that old computer still works and is in your possession. Now the question is, is your Firefox / Sync data still on that device?
Or perhaps that data was wiped when that old computer was connected to Sync with the new Firefox Account Password?
