Google is not a program. It is a website and search engine.
Is the problem with the home page or search engine?
Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager.
Hot key; (<Control> [Mac=<Command>] <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions.
Remove “ Google “ Anything.
Also remove SafeSearch, SearchAssist Incognito, FileConverter Addon, SearchLock, DiscreteSearch, WebSearch, Findwide Search Engine, securedsearch
Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs.
Mac: Open the Applications folder.
Linux: Check your user manual.
Hi abrupt, could you describe this situation in a little more detail?
At first, it sounds like there is a separate program named Google showing up on your computer. Where do you see that? For example:
- There's an entry for it on the Windows 10 start menu
- There's a shortcut for it on the desktop
- Somewhere else?
But then on second read, you probably really mean that after you start Firefox, Google shows up in Firefox either in the address bar or elsewhere. That might be normal and changeable, depending on where you see it, so it would be great to get more information.
(1) When you click in the address bar, before you type anything, one of the eight automatic options on the drop-down is Google search.
This drop-down shows the first 8 Top Sites from the new tab page (also known as Firefox Home). If you never modified this page before, you may also see an Amazon search shortcut at the top of your list. To personalize this list -- remove unwanted sites, add others, rearrange the order, etc. -- see the steps in the following article:
(2) When you start typing text in the address bar, the top line of the drop-down shows what you typed followed by "Search with Google"
Firefox is telling you what search engine will be used to run a web search on what you typed. Unless you select a different icon or use a shortcut like @bing, this indicates your default search engine. To change your default search engine to something else, check out the steps in the following article:
