Expanding Address Bar
Does anyone know of a SIMPLE solution to stop the irritating expanding address bar from doing just that? At first I could stop it in about:config - but that no longer appears to be possible. Why do Mozilla insist on user no longer having that option. I seem no longer to be able to use Firefox. It seems to be the domain of the computer-tech savvy and not a browser for ordinary jerks like me who don't understand a word of the jargon and have difficulty following what seem to be simple tasks to other users. All I want to do is stop that irritating expanding address bar but it seems like I have to become a fully skilled coder just to be able to get into a regular-joe website. It's not what I signed up for. Help? Anybody...?

You can easily adjust your browser URL bar to make room for longer addresses.
URLs, or Web addresses, are getting longer, especially when it comes to business-to-business URLs that small business owners and managers need to access on a regular basis. Most new enterprises are compelled to choose longer domain names as shorter ones are no longer available, and a link may have extensions that make it even longer. Fortunately, it is easy to expand the URL address bar on all of the major Web browsers, namely Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari, so you have room to type long addresses.
1 Position your mouse at the right end of your URL address bar so that you see a double-headed arrow.
2 Hold down the left button of your mouse and drag your mouse to the right.
3 Stop dragging as soon as you have enlarged the URL bar to the size you need, and release the left button of your mouse.
Tips
When you enlarge your URL bar, any icons you may have on the right side of your address bar are rearranged into a dropdown menu that you can access by clicking on the prompt (such as >> in Google Chrome) that appears to the right of your resized address bar. However, search boxes that are located on the same toolbar line as your URL address bar will be resized to a minimal width that may make it difficult for you to use the search bar.
You can readjust the URL bar at any time by simply repeating the steps listed above; make the bar smaller by dragging the mouse to the left, rather than to the right.

Yogyta Kalwar Thank you for your reply. However, double arrow does not appear at the right of url bar, therefore I can not execute this fix. Address bar still expanding.

A possible alternative is to use code in userChrome.css.

Hi mckendrick, you can do this with 3 system skills and a little bit of Firefox settings work:
- creating a folder in the Windows 10 File Explorer
- copying/pasting or dragging/dropping a file between folders in the Windows 10 File Explorer
- renaming a file in the Windows 10 File Explorer
