I have created links to download CAD drawing files from compiled html content on my eLearning sites. When clicking on the link to the online file, FireFox presents a page of scrambled code with no further options. I have uploaded a screenshot. I have diligently read all the articles on how to prevent this but I cannot solve this problem. A lot of my users are obviously using FireFox and this problem has recently escalated.

Separate Security Issue: Update your Flash Player or remove it using these links; Uninstall Flash Player | Windows {web link} Uninstall Flash Player | Mac {web link}

Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

The files could be UTF-8 or UTF-16 encoded files.

You can check the current Text Encoding when you open the file in Firefox tab to see what encoding Firefox is using.

  • View -> Text Encoding

"3-bar" Firefox menu button -> More -> Text Encoding

Thanks but we've had no alternative but to recommend that our clients use any browser other than FireFox.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required) or create a test page ?
