I get the same error when trying to sign-in directly from the browser menu and when trying to do it from mozilla website. I had to sign-in from Google Chrome even to post this message. I'm logged-in from my iPhone without any problem.

Okay, I (kind of) fixed this: – I created a new Firefox profile. – I quit Firefox. – Since I had noticed before (when I was using the different macOS user account) that not my entire history had been synced (for whatever reason), I copied the places.sqlite file from the old profile folder to the new. – I restarted Firefox which used the new profile.

Now, I was able again to log into Firefox accounts. Copying the places.sqlite apparently was successful because my entire history is listed. Bookmarks were synced successfully into the new profile, too, just like the stored logins and passwords. Of course, preferences and add-ons are lost, but this is a minor problem to me.

It still would be interesting to learn how to fix this properly (i.e. without the need to create a new profile).

Today, I upgraded to Firefox 70.0.1 (coming from 69) and now I get Error 500, too. I cleared the cache and the cookies. As suggested in an older thread , I deleted the Weave folder, the signedInUser.json and prefs.js files, I made sure that dom.storage.enabled is set to TRUE. I can’t create a new account because on visiting https://accounts.firefox.com/ I get the error again

To post this, I switched to another user account on my computer. Here, everything is fine, but on my main user account, the problem persists. I also can access my Firefox account on my Android smartphone.

So I’m pretty sure it’s something in the Firefox profile folder of my main user account…

I’m working on a Mac with macOS Mojave.

Hello, I had exactly the same problem and managed to solve it without migrating whole profile.

1. I did a backup of my profile folder. 2. I deleted one by one .sqlite files. 3. After a file was deleted (moved out), I've started Firefox again to see if I can access the site know. 4. When I deleted `webappsstore.sqlite`, everything was alright. So I've lost local data the web sites save to the local Firefox but that's all, no pain.

(It would be interesting to know which of the websites put local data that prevented Firefox to access the account site.)
