Firefox is crashing when I exit a remote desktop session

When I'm active in the RDP session, FF has never crashed. But when I exit the session and log in later, the Crash Reporter is reporting FF crashed. I've had 10 crashes this month. I have not tested in Safe Mode because I don't know how to test. I don't want to Refresh because I'll loose all my settings (hours or work). I was hoping someone could make sense of the crash report. Here's the three most recent submitted ones: bp-1dd0e0c0-985d-47c8-a017-ad9710190724 bp-1171b044-d27c-43d9-bd70-949720190722 bp-1d15d3c6-fa58-4f27-affa-0908a0190716

Hi Aaron, I only make limited use of RDP, so apologies if this is an ignorant question. I log out of my session when disconnecting from a remote host. And actually I close all the running programs first. If I didn't do that, I'm not sure what would happen to those programs. Are you keeping Firefox running when you exit the session (intentionally) or is it possible that Firefox is not shutting down correctly?

Two of the crashes are OOM -- out of memory. Is Firefox doing something memory intensive in the background while you are away?

Hi jscher2000, Thanks for the quick reply. No, not that I'm aware of. Between the firefox app and tabs I'm probably using ~1GB. I have 64GB in this machine (I know, I use lots of virtual machines).

The memory figures look a bit odd:

Total Virtual Memory : 4,294,836,224 bytes (4.29 GB)
Available Virtual Memory : 183,996,416 bytes (184 MB)
Available Page File : 63,472,799,744 bytes (63.47 GB)
Available Physical Memory : 54,858,280,960 bytes (54.86 GB)
System Memory Use Percentage : 20
OOM Allocation Size : 4,096 bytes (4.1 KB)

I agree that those memory figures do look odd. Could this be a bug in Firefox or is there a way to increase the virtual memory? It seems FF should sense I have 64GB available and not cap me at 4GB, which is what it appears to be doing. Would anyone suggest I need to modify the Performance settings? I'd hate to turn off hardware acceleration, but if that fixes the issue I'm open. Also, installed a new graphics card yesterday and had a crash this morning, so it doesn't appear to be related to the graphics card or driver(s).

I've had four more crashes since I submitted this: bp-b2ca08dc-209a-4f78-aaf2-7da290190725 bp-31768356-abc3-426d-9935-b3db30190726 bp-13628781-540b-42f4-9924-2e3dc0190731 bp-52620318-7da1-4af9-83c7-b00ac0190807

Do you have a 32-bit Firefox version installed?

Maybe try the 64-bit version.

Thank you! That was an excellent idea. I've upgraded to 64-bit version and haven't had any crashes. Much appreciated everyone!
