Why has my log in to thames water sending a request to Facebook.com?

On logging into my account (my browser is Firefox) I have noticed a link at the bottom of the page which says "waiting for my request to Thames Water.co.uk" followed by "sending request to Facebook.com" followed by "waiting for my request to Thames Water.co.uk" Why is this sending a request to Facebook?
