I have tried numerous times so why won't firefox clear my browsing history?

I am totally at a loss as I cannot seem to get the browser history to clear. I have been using firefox for years and have never encountered this issue. I have scanned with my virus program and malwarebytes and nothing seems to help.

Thanks for any help offered.

Firefox automatically makes backups of the bookmarks. These are stored in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

places.sqlite stores History and Bookmarks Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.
