Firefox is running when I startup my computer, sometimes.
This has happened twice in about the last 2 months. It's not set to run on startup and I've closed the browser before my previous shutdown. Today it happened and I've been having a little issue with my computer recently. Yesterday, I couldn't adjust the brightness and had to shutdown, then put it to sleep, then restart and finally it would work. Last week I couldn't get it to shutdown, it just kept coming back to the lock screen. So, now I'm concerned that these 3 issues could be related.

Thanks, but I mentioned in my question that I do close my browser before I shutdown.
sure, but firefox might do some cleanup tasks in the background even after you have closed the ui (they will be forcefully stopped 60 seconds after the window got closed) - your operatingmight pick that up as the browser still running during shutdown and reopening after a minute.
Hmm, I typically close the browser, then play a game for 30min before shutting down. Would it still be caused by this issue? Last night, I was playing my game for a while before shutting down; maybe an hour.
This issue just can be your PC problem. Please recheck that your antivirus is working properly and cleaning your PC at regular intervals is must. Refresh your PC after starting the computer and before you shut it down. Hope this helps.
Did you check the Windows Task Manager (Processes tab) for possible Firefox processes after you closed Firefox to check if Firefox is shutting down properly?

I don't know how to tell if the antivirus isn't working properly. It just does the cleaning as scheduled. I don't know what is "refresh your computer", so now I'm just going to accept that my computer will do what it wants, when it wants and I will have no control.
Thanks for trying, Everyone.
