Facebook isn't loading properly using Firefox but does using Chrome, why ?

One main reason I am asking about this is because I have to download screenshots for a group I'm in and organise tables etc... For every photo added of games played, results etc... I don't get to see the relevant information I need to be able to download it.

I've tried uploading 2 pictures to here to show what I mean but they won't upload either even though they are under 1mb. Basically, when you click on any picture on facebook, you get a distorted version of that picture, or, there are no options available for downloading it etc.. When I access the same pictures on Chrome, I can like it, download it etc...and everything else is also listed, so I don't understand how Firefox isn't showing any of it.

As both browsers are on this same computer, both upto date etc..., does anyone have any idea why Firefox isn't showing everything ?

Your help would be appreciated immensely as this really is doing my head in :(

Still looking, but how about downloading the Installer and trying this way?

Also, found this site:

  • First of all Uninstall Flash Player using uninstaller for windows
  • Go to local disk “c” \Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash, C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
  • Remove all files including - FlashInstall.log, mms.cfg
  • Reinstall Flash Player from Webpage
  • Once the installation is done Go to - C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash, C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash and upload FlashInstall.log file.
  • Now Launch your FF and take a screenshot of your FF version
  • Launch Flash player page using FF and click on check now and take a screen shot.

using uninstaller for windows, is this the one via the control panel because if it isn't, I have no idea where to find it ?

I've removed everything as you instructed, so no flash exists. I restarted my pc to make sure everything was gone and then I went to Adobe.com using the link you sent previously, and clicked to download the installer. I clicked on it to install and surprise surpise, it states Application initialization error once again :(

This is an old link for the "full" flash installer:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player.exe

Macromedia was the original developer of Flash and after it was acquired by Adobe, Adobe continues to operate its site, so that link is legit.

Well, this download link worked in a way. I was able to download and install it, but it only shows as the NPAPI version that Pj wanted me to remove from the start, see screenshot.

It has updated it in Firefox to the 32.0.0.156 version though and that is now activated too, however, not one thing has changed within Facbook.

I keep going in circles on the Adobe site, but here's an AcroBat Reader 'Install Help' that might apply to your Flash Install problem:

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/fix-install-download-reader.html

Pay attention to Sections 2,4,6, and 7.

Well, I didn't say Flash was relevant to the Facebook problem, but I wanted to help you back to having it available for sites that use it.

I don't know what the problem is when you view the FB photo overlay. Either the page isn't detecting the mouseover event when you move the mouse over the photo, or the script that detects the event isn't running normally (or possibly not loading). Do you notice problems with mouseover situations on other parts of Facebook?

You got it! I just wanted you to delete all Flash versions and start afresh. The NPAPI type is correct.

Now, why do you have Air? It's 2014. Delete that or Update it.

Go to the Main Menu (Upper-Right, the 3-Horizontal Lines) > Content Blocking. I set mine on Standard.

Then go down a bit to Cookies and Site Data and click on Manage Permissions and in there enter:

http://Facebook.com

and

https://Facebook.com

then Save it.

jscher2000. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to computers adn the internet, so saying 'mouseover situations on other parts of Facebook' makes no sense to me. Can you explain in a clearer way please ?

Pj I need air to live haha. If I remember correctly, the Adobe Air was installed with along with the Acrobat reader and Shockwave player via certain games or programs that I installed. It was an add on to something that asked if I wanted to install it too. As they were also from Adobe and I had flash already, I didn't se the harm in adding them too. To be honest, I have no idea what it does or ever has.

I've just added the Facebook links too, but I guess I don't need to worry about the adobe reader listings now flash is installed and upto date ?

And I've just looked at flash in the control panel and activex is not installed. Didn't you say this should be there and upto date ?

You might have to fire-up IE (InterNet Explorer) and see if you can grab the ActiveX Flash from within the browser. Otherwise, go to Adobe in IE and grab Flash. Careful to not allow IE be the 'Default' browser.

I haven't opened IE in a long time. I let Avast Ant-Virus update my IE Flash and 64-Bit iTunes.

Yeah, you're good to go with FF Flash. Now, how does Facebook work?

Facebook is the same as it's been for some time :( I did initially think I should re-install Windows but it can't be a Windows issue if Chrome is showing and doing everything that Firefox isn't. It has to be a Firefox and Facebook issue but I haven't been able to work it out and everything you 2 have suggested was way beyond what I knew about doing, but sadly none of it's worked either. I'll just have to use Chrome for Facebook and Firefox for everything else. Thanks for the tip about IE with activeX. I haven't used it in many years and forgot that it normally asks to install it :)

Is there a public link, to a non-sign Facebook page you can provide that shows the problem?

(I don't have a Facebook account, but there are some Facebook sites I can browse without having to 'sign-in'. No doubt the way a site can be setup without having to sign-in.)

I have no idea what you mean by any of that apart from you not having a Facebook account :( Anything to do with Facebook for me, means I have to sign in first. As I'm a novice for comps and the internet, I'm the wrong person to ask this haha

Understood. But if you get a chance to browse around non-sign-in Facebook pages with the problem continuing, drop by and post the link.

My short, brief encounters with Facebook so far seems to be working. We need to find out what the bug-a-boo is at your end.

Pj, seriously I don't have a clue what you mean by non sign in Facebook pages. I've never even heard of it until your post so I wouldn't know what to look for or how to know in any way.

Simple. Just visit various Facebook pages without signing-in or sign-out. My understanding from years ago, one could sign-up for Facebook and setup a 'site' that either required visitors to sign-in or not. IOW, not all Facebook sites require one to have a Facebook account or sign-in. Usually, sites for 'Public Service' from a government agency wouldn't necessarily make their Facebook site/page a sign-in/sign-up requirement.

I'll try to browse around today over there and see what I can come up with.
