I am new to Firefox, and am really pleased with its performance. I am trying to save frequently used Web sites that require pop-ups and not allow others. The Web sites allowed during the session will only be saved until Firefox closes. I tried entering them directly to the Exceptions panel and Web sites are not saved there. Closing and reopening Firefox deletes the Web sites from the list there also. I likely have a setting that's causing it, since I am very aggressive about *not* saving data and passwords and have unchecked and checked many items relating to saving or not saving data. I just can't locate the setting(s) involved. Thanks for the help!

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep
