Thank you so much. I greatly appreciate your assistance - indeed, I have posted feedback and sent in a request. This huge pop up is just so annoying. I sincerely hope we'll get an option to adjust it. I was so surprised, because one of the best things about Firefox is its user flexibility.

Wes, just further thanks - another earlier poster was just so terrific and offered a solution that involved tweaking files - but it was way too technical for me. Even worse, my tech guy didn't want to get involved, as he's never used FF and didn't want to start out changing files in my system. I (and I am sure others) are indebted to him for posting such complicated information with instructions. I hope others will be able to do it.

I have been using FF for years and this is the very first thing that has become an offensive nuisance that actually causes me to lose time, that I can ill afford to lose. So that is good, but I sure wish that wish such drastic changes (the pop-up tripled in size) they would understand that "Not Everybody" wants this, and would give us an opt-out.

Time to get a new tech guy; one who uses Firefox or is familiar with more that the Microsoft training way that things are done in the world of internet technology.

While I appreciate your suggestion, there is no possible way in the world I would ever give up my tech guy. I hope you didn't mean to denigrate him, as one could infer you are suggesting he's less than competent by being stuck in Microsoft workings and consequently inflexible. I certainly will give you the benefit of the doubt that without knowing my situation, you were simply suggesting a change to a different tech, because I don't care for MS either. However, I have learned to manage with it (and now Outlook - ugh) and this man has been valuable beyond words helping me do that.

I found Firefox years ago and have been delighted with it, especially regarding privacy concerns, but I will give it up without even a blink rather than give up my tech guy.

He has solved major problems and helped me learn quite a bit and frankly, he knows enough about MS to use it to his advantage - indeed there is much of it he dislikes, but he knows how to work around problems. He's also honest enough to say he doesn't want to get involved in changing the settings in my PC to tweak a browser he's not familiar with. BTW he is retired from being in charge of running the entire statewide HELP system for New York State agencies (ALL of them). I think he just doesn't want to get into a browser that only one of his clients is using, that he hasn't investigated himself, and honestly, doesn't need.

I hope FF will not be like Microsoft in this instance (forcing something on us instead of giving us a choice?), and that FF will end up giving us an option to SHOW or HIDE the thumbnail that has tripled the size of the bookmark pop-up and making my experience with it so unpleasant now.

You can hide the favicon and the website preview that has been added with code in userChrome.css.

Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

It is not that difficult to create userChrome.css if you have never used it.

The first step is to open the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" page and find the button to access the profile folder.

You can find this button under the "Application Basics" section as "Profile Folder -> Open Folder". If you click this button then you open the profile folder in the Windows File Explorer. You need to create a folder with the name chrome in this folder (name is all lowercase). In the chrome folder you need to create a text file with the name userChrome.css (name is case sensitive). In this userChrome.css text file you paste the text posted.

In Windows saving the file is usually the only time things get more complicated because Windows can silently add a .txt file extension and you end up with a file named userChrome.css.txt. To avoid this you need to make sure to select "All files" in the dialog to save the file in the text editor using "Save File as".

You need to close and restart Firefox when you create or modify the userChrome.css file.
