The promo for it appeared on a major website and I foolishly clicked out of curiosity. Now it has reconfigured my new tab page in Firefox and apparently ditched my preferred search engine (DuckDuckGo). I've search how to uninstall it but have found nothing that fits the situation. Can anyone help?

Hi, check your add-ons and Extensions for anything inserted into Firefox

Please use MS Search for Programs & Features yes is still there. Go through the program list and uninstall anything that should not be there. Web Companion or Lavasoft are 2.

Please use more than 1 scanner as each uses diff tech :

Save your Report and google each before deleting anything as do not want to delete something you need, If need help :

Uninstall any Bittorrent apps, uninstall cracked programs and delete cracks then Post in only 1 forum, then wait.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I installed and ran Malwarebyte, which came up with a list of 28 suspicious files, which I quarantined. Then I launched Microsoft Safety Scanner late in the evening, figuring I would deal with it in the a.m. This morning it was still running, over 8 hours later, and appeared to be in a loop. It had not identified any problems, so I canceled it, went through the Malwarebyte list and have identified only three items, a folder and 2 files, with Mozilla and TV in the name. I am going to delete them. And the problem with the New Tab screen has disappeared.

My question is what should I do with the rest of the files in quarantine? They all begin with the name PUP.Optional.Reimage. The "type" is Registry Key and most have "Location" that begins with HKLM\SOFTWARE....

Should I just release these from quarantine? I know nothing about the Registry Key and suspect I could get into a lot of trouble fumbling around in there.

Please let me know that I'm on the right track and what I should do next. I won't even delete the 3 suspicious TV files before you respond. And thank you. Help from this forum is a real life saver.

You should delete everything that Malwarebytes found.

After doing that, please type about:add-ons into your address bar, press enter, then go to extensions and list everything there
