I am woried about my teen aged children using private browsing and there seems to be no way of preventing this. I have been informed it can be disabled in windows IE but not firefx so i'm thinking of switching back to IE

In Firefox 52 you could use a Legacy extension, but such an extension can easily be bypassed by starting Firefox in Safe Mode.

In Firefox 60 and later you can use a policy to disable Private Browsing mode, but on Vista you can't use versions beyond Firefox 52.
