Click on the link and it doesn't exists. So you need to contact the addon creator and ask for support for their addon extension. FF End user forum can't address Addon extension problems.

Dear WestEnd As I said before this problem is not about extensions. I had experienced such situation a few times. After the new version of firefox the problem has fixed without any extension changes.

Which Firefox version that worked were you using before this update?

With local files there might be sandbox issues that prevent an extension from accessing local files.

You can check for sandbox security issues.

You can set this pref to 2 or 1 on the about:config page to reduce the sandbox security level.

• security.sandbox.content.level = 1
• close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.

If '1' still doesn't have effect then try '0' to disable the sandbox.

If this didn't work then undo/reverse the change and reset the pref via the right-click context menu to the default value.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

This bug can be connected with the issue.

Hmm, this seems to be a new issue in Firefox 60, according to the author of a different translation add-on.

The response there implies access was blocked due to an unspecified security problem, so I suspect there's no way to make an exception at the moment.

did you read my first message? because i writted that.

Oh, I thought there were two different things (translator and dictionary). So I already posted all the information I know about the problem.

Here is a workaround to work with PDF files you already downloaded to your system.

Mozilla has an online demo of the latest development versions of the PDF viewer here:

It shows a sample file, but you can load your own file -- there's an "Open File" button toward the right end of the black toolbar.

Since the PDF is loading into a web page version of the viewer, the special restrictions on the built-in viewer do not apply, and the dictionary extension works.

Does the site work for you?

If you prefer to open a local copy of the viewer instead of using that demo, I created a streamlined package.

To set it up:

(1) Download the PDF viewer files from my site:

(2) Extract the contents (one file named index.html and two folders), which will occupy about 10.3MB of disk space.

(3) Open the downloaded index.html and it should launch the viewer. You can bookmark this page for future reference.

To display a PDF:

Use the blue Open File button on the toolbar to launch a file browsing window, find your PDF, and open it into the viewer.

After that, you should be able to use the dictionary extension in the document.

I tested on Windows 7; does it work on your Mac?
