I have a CoolPad which is Android and did not get a Master Password option. I went to their forum and asked them about this and they said there was no MPW option as there is a problem in the android logic and they cannot fix it.

So here in this forum it is stated there IS a MPW option but I still don't see it on my FF on my smart phone. Also, can you sync that same phone with a MPW (if indeed there is a MPW option). Did I somehow download an old FF version or something? It was only a couple months ago I downloaded it.

What am I not doing/seeing?

Now, while browsing questions I saw this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1209266#answer-1106768 So, I am worried about my MPW being seen?

Your Master Password is local to your device and isn't transmitted anywhere.

Your Firefox Account password is sent to the Firefox Accounts server to connect with Sync.

If you do not want anyone with physical access to your devices to see your saved logins (such as your Firefox Account password), then adding a Master Password is helpful.

I don't know whether BitWarden is useful for that login, but it is useful for website logins.

The Firefox you posted with identified itself as Firefox 60. Is that the version where you want to set a Master Password?

A Master Password is a local feature and is not synchronized through Firefox Sync. Each installation of Firefox can have a different Master Password or none at all; it is purely a local setting.

In Firefox for Android, the Master Password setting should be here:

menu > Settings > Privacy

Scroll down to the Logins section and look for "Use master password"

Is that not present on your device?

At this point I can't even find the MENU.

I see New tab, Bookmarks, Add-ons, the usual options but not the MENU option. I chose the 3 dots (probably MENU) but nothing for SETTINGS or PRIVACY comes up.

I do have MPW on FF 60 on my desktop which is from where I made this post. I don't mean to be dumb and this is my first smart phone so I don't have much set up.

And I just so where my PW was revealed easily on the e-mail address I had just by selecting the option. That's a nightmare! I just deleted the e-mail.

When I say "menu" it means whatever icon Firefox uses for opening the menu on your device. It could be a stack of 3 dots, or 3 lines, or it could be a hardware button. The menu has items such as New tab, New private tab, Bookmarks, History and then further down, Settings.

Wait, I just found the MPW. They said there was none. Let me play around with this. It was under TOOLS > PRIVACY.

Where did you install from? I don't think the official Firefox for Android (Google Play store) has Privacy under Tools.

It was definitely the Google Play Store and I did select TOOLS > PRIVACY. And I am telling you it wasn't there two months ago so maybe they had an update.

and this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-master-password-sync And I am trying to figure out that yes I have a MPW WITH the Sync PW or just the Sync PW. The SYNC PW I set up on FF 60 Desktop is NOT my MPW on FF 60 Desktop.

Sorry, I do get confused a lot.

OK. Well, I know MPW does make the general PW's unseen on my desk top but I was trying to figure out if the information on PW's being seen (and yes, I just saw my e-mail PW just sitting there) but I did not know if it applied to the MPW. I'll keep checking on this. : )

I have set up SYNC from my desktop but did not yet SYNC my smart phone as I had some questions. My MPW is different than my SYNC PW as I do believe that is what was suggested in an article I had read. But, my MPW on both my desktop and phone are the same as I really don't think I can remember another complicated PW.

One more thing...I just realized that I was hitting SETTINGS even though I could not see it when I tapped on TOOLS and must have been hitting SETTINGS that is right below it but I had not scrolled down thinking TOOLS was my last option. I was able to replicate this "mis-tap".

So, indeed, there is a SETTINGS tab.
