cannot get rid of bing from my firefox. tried all of the tricks. looks like firefox is unable to find a solution for this issue. good bye firefox...
have done resetting the firefox. reinstalling the fire fox. removing all for addons. uninstalling many free ware platform programs. a devoted firefox user for over a decade, but if firefox cannot even protect itself, should i move on to some different option now.......

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; (<Control> [Mac=<Command>] <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ Bing “ Anything.
Also remove SafeSearch, SearchAssist Incognito, FileConverter Addon, SearchLock, DiscreteSearch, WebSearch, Findwide Search Engine
Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
