When I go into Firefox settings and click on Saved Logins, it takes several minutes for the window to open up. Afterwards, the searches are relatively fast. Deleting an item likewise takes minutes. I believe this also affects the auto-fill of passwords when Firefox first starts up.. It does not auto-fill at first.

Is there any way to optimize the saved logins database? PS: This is under Fedora Linux. Firefox 59.0.2 (64-bit)

Are you using any password programs/add-ons?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Sorry - still slow without the addons. I think it must be the SIZE of the data file. I have been using Firefox for well over 10 years.

We can test that, if you want.

key3.db [v58+] key4.db and logins.json These are the Password files.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above files. Then rename Both by adding .old to them. Restart Firefox.
