Hi, Sounds like not a very good install for the buttons and things, also maybe for high ram and processor use also as does Windows 10. If you have tons of ram Quantum loves it and loves running on all your cores of the cpu chip. So that being said this is how to tame the use of all the cores (am not sure on multi-thread as was away a month but was suppose to start in 58). Please : Go the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

Note : Acceleration is for your Video Card, monitor to see if need to turn back on.

So to fix issues with Buttons on pages not working can be a problem and lengthy back and forth. Fastest 7min and should be fixed if follow the instructions : Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

I don't know if I need to "tame cores". I have monitored system resources when the problems are occurring. I have less than 50% cup usage and 80-90% RAM usage (I have 16GB RAM and core i7-7500U) when the problems are occurring.

GPU usage peaks at around 30% but mostly around 4% utilisation.

Why would I have to uninstall and re-install firefox? I only just installed it for the first time on a brand new laptop less than a month ago! And I already have 58.0.2 installed. Will I have to do this often? If so, it's a deal-breaker for me and I'll be sadly leaving firefox after 15 years!

Hi, no it is the Full Version Installer vs the stub installer. Full = you download the whole thing, stub = you download the activator to initiate the install and it downloads and installs. The thing with the stub is possible packet loss which ends up with a glitched install.

Ya 16gig is good, I have 32 and I had issues for awhile after first updating to 57 and had to play with the cores for awhile. It eventually settled down to where I could increase the cores again.

Possible memory leak is a reason to reinstall.

The directions I gave take 7mins or less to do and your info/Profile is saved.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there ?
