As to whether the file is damaged: The only way to find out is to watch the clip.

In most cases, when computers are talking to one another; Everything is sent in 'packets.' It's like filling up a suitcase. Each packet is sent. Then the sender calculates a 'checksum' for that packet, and sends that as well.

When the receiver gets the packet, it calculates the checksum and compares it to the senders. If the checksums match, the data is stored. If not, the receiver sends a 'resend' command back to the sender.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a download manager.

These managers work using Firefox to download what you want.

There are also external managers that run independently of the browser. The browser tells the manager what to get, and off it goes.

I've been spending a lot of time looking at the Mozilla Add-ons, but I can't find one that can verify that the video it downloaded was unchanged and was the same video I watched in Firefox?

I guess I'm asking for the "safest way" to download videos to my PC that I can be 100% certain haven't been changed in any way.

First off what site are you talking about getting the video from? Some sites a blocked from getting videos as well because they know people try to download the videos. So unless you can tell us the site no one can see what your trying to download.

Google can find and get to the site but I highly doubt Google will download the video for you that would be them asking for trouble and they most likely will not help with that. And if you can't get the video have to tried to ask the site hosting it how you can download the video or get permission to download them-excluding youtube?
