For past several days, a pop-up message appears every time I attempt to open my browser asking if I want to allow this app to make changes to my computer. The app is listed as Firefox Software Updater. When I checked Add-ons, I notice an add-on which is listed as temporary in support of Safe Browsing Version 4 and will supposedly be deleted once the roll-out of this feature is complete. How long is this 'roll-out' supposed to take? This has been going on for days. Should I be responding 'No' or 'Yes'? I'm using Windows 10 and Firefox 56.0.1.

Do not respond at all.

Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla before posting a question. This helps us help you.

for Safe Browsing : part of a Mozilla experiment, called 'Shield Studies'. Without even knowing it, you may have volunteered for this Mozilla experiment. Would you go to : Options => Privacy & Security => under 'Data Collection and Use' : Did you uncheck : 'Allow Firefox to install and run studies ' or is it checked  ?

To check if you are enrolled in these studies : Type in the address bar about:studies

Any extensions that you see listed there, you can either disable or remove, just like this Safe Browsing version 4 (at the end of the experiment they will be disabled anyway). See for further information : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/shield

For your popup Note you may have to google the programs as some of the addresses have changed. Save the Reports. Google everything as you do not want to delete registry keys that are needed for some programs that are ok but stick a url in to buy program. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware and https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/ and https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/ Note post in 1 forum only and wait.

If after all this is done want to fix Win 10

Repair System Registry and Files

(FOR DOING Above & Below - WINDOWS All OTHER VERSIONS - Use Search To Find Command Prompt ** Enter CMD.exe to Find COMMAND PROMPT Then Right Click & RUN AS ADMIN)

To run the SFC command use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin). Type "SFC /SCANNOW" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter. For more information on using SFC, please refer to the Microsoft KB: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Run the Windows Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) and System File Checker (SFC) tools as Administrator. The DISM and SFC tools scan the integrity of the Windows image and all protected system files replaces corrupted, damaged and incorrect versions. (FOR DOING Above & Below - WINDOWS All OTHER VERSIONS - Use Search To Find Command Prompt ** Enter CMD.exe to Find COMMAND PROMPT Then Right Click & RUN AS ADMIN) Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter.

Windows 10 To run the DISM command use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu, then select Command Prompt (Admin). Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter. While running DISM you may notice the process will appear to pause at 20%. After a few minutes the operation will continue.

Note : SFC fixes files locally using files found on your system. Note : DISM goes up to Microsoft for new ones.

Note : Firefox 56.0.2 is current release https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ Full Version Installer Note : Firefox 57 Quantum release date Nov 14th https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/quantum/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be disabled and or removed.

Thanks for your response, Phshadow. Yes, the 'Allow Firefox to Install and Run Studies' option was checked. I have since unchecked this option and removed the Safe Browsing add-on. However, this has not solved my problem. I still receive the same pop-up message as before. I am not being requested to buy any program and the only 'program' indicated is the Firefox Software Updater.

We do not have a pop up that does this. I directed you to run the scans with the url's provided. The results should find it.

The only thing that ever may come up is the Help then About Window asking to to restart because it has already updated..

Your A/V will not, you must use Malware scanners. ASAP

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

You indicated 'we do not have a pop up that does this'. I have to point out I opened the details about the request, and it indicates the certificate comes from Mozilla Corporation.

Great If you run across it again take a screen shot of it and post it.
