I recently had a major system crash and had to wipe my C drive and rebuild my O/S from scratch (Windows 10). I got most of my stuck back, but the last remaining hurdle remains my Firefox bookmarks and passwords. Although I have some pre crash jsonlz4 files back, the only one that works is one from 2016, which is useless to me. All the others give the familiar 'unable to process the backup file' error when trying to recover them. I have tried the stuff most recommend - have a laptop with version 54 of FF, that did not work, nor did trying the portable versions of FF on version 52. Have also tried FF safemode and then replacing the sqlite file as well. I would like to know if there is a way of opening the jsonlz4 file and extracting the data from it? Even if it is a case of just being able to copy and paste the URLs one at a time that would be something. I have stuck with FF for years despite some performance issues and reliability concerns compared with Chrome, but this might be it now for me. I have seen utilities and scripts, but they seem to be based on Linux or Python platforms and the resources and time going down that route do not make it worthwhile. Is there anything that will work on Windows which does not require hardcore scripting skills? Incidentally, I already know about exporting the bookmarks etc as a backup for future use. Although that is fine if the computer dies again, it does not help me with my current situation. Thanks
