When I go to a website that has what I believe a header that is in Java and the picture changes it gets segments still the new picture is full in the area. I am using Firefox 52.2.0 and was using 54.0 with the same problem. The problem does not show up in Microsoft Edge.

It's probably a transition created with either JavaScript (handled internally by Firefox, not using the Java plugin) or CSS. Firefox doesn't always handle those as smoothly as other browsers if there are compatibility glitches with your graphics card/chipset driver software that prevent Firefox from taking full advantage of hardware acceleration of graphics.

The first stop is always this article: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.
