I am on a Mac with OS 10.6.8 and use Firefox 48.0.2. I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden I can't get rid of the tab. I don't want any tabs up, just an open window but as of this evening I can only browse in a tab. If I click out of the tab the browser is gone!

Can you please tell me how to fix this problem? It's driving me crazy!

Thanks!

Btw, I do not have tabs enabled in my preferences!

I'm a little confused by your description, probably because I'm a Windows user...

It's normal for Firefox to have a "tabs bar" where you get a little representation of a tab for each page you have open in the same window. Is that something you didn't see before? Possibly you were using an add-on that modified the appearance of Firefox in some way related to tabs?

Were you using Full Screen mode?

Not sure if this works on OS X 10.6 to toggle Full Screen mode: Command+Shift+F

Thank you both!

have never used Full Screen mode so I don't think that applies, but I appreciate the suggestion.

In the past I was able to get rid of the tabs so I just had a plain open window. Unfortunately, I don't remember how I did it. It might have been a third party add-on - if so does anybody know what it might have been? Maybe I accidentally deleted it!
