This authentic and professional looking screen has popped up 3 or 4 times in the last week. I am afraid to let it download as the URL is jibberish. I am thinking seriously about using to another browser as Firefox (not responding) pops up happens way too often plus freezing the cursor for 5 second, and shockwave problems driving me crazy.

hello.

1.update about what? to update urgently what? 2. https://ohcoyinfotraxsys.org doesn't appear anywhere on most of the famous databases (search engines and website analytics)

- this alone speaks a lot.

3. "I am thinking seriously about using to another browser as Firefox (not responding) "

- are you saying that you are thinking of using firefox, or that you are thinking of stopping using firefox?

3.1 'pops up happens way too often"

- firefox blocks pop ups

4. pop ups about "urgent update" should never happen. not to talk about freezing cursors. get yourself an anti-virus. personal preference is nod32 from eset.com

Well spotted Paul, That is a fake update and will be malware do not use it.

Firefox is not the greatest with Adboe FlashPlayer, and Adobe does not support Firefox well. The sooner people and websites stop using FlashPlayer the better. All the major browsers would I am sure like to move away from FlashPlayer.

I note you are using a Pre Release Beta version of Firefox for some reason. You also have the Shockwave Director plugin installed, I wonder if you even need or use that. It may be worth you visiting the Adobe test page http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and confirming you are actually on the very latest FlashPlayer version for Firefox

  • Can you give the full text of the not responding messages you get ?

Also for comparison purposes can I ask you to test out Firefox in its safemode and with all plugins including FlashPlayer disabled, does it then behave ok ? Please also see

The current lot of fake updates tend to have orange splashscreens. They usually use disposable websites that are only active for a day or so and tend to use a personalised link that only works for the targeted victim.

You may find installing & using an adblocking add-on something like ublock origin, reduces the frequency of, or stops these fake updates.
