very recent flash crashes, older pc with vista, no workarounds work
Hi, I have a vista computer, firefox up to date, flash up to date, but in the past week or so it started hanging and crashing with no ability to work. I have flash protection mode unchecked (not happy about that), have no access to hardware acceleration (unless there's a work around to get to it, since you need flash to work to get there), nothing has been changed on my machine since it started crashing. I do have Norton Security, and I suppose something might have automatically updated on my machine. However I suspect either Flash or Firefox updated recently, thus creating the problem. Is there any solution to this, knowing I have vista with I guess some limitations related to that? Remember, this only started happening like a week or so ago. Thanks so much for any info!!!

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:
- see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

Thanks. My graphics driver is the most recent they recommend.
Still can't access hardware acceleration with that link, freezes when trying to right click the animation.
Is there any other way to get to that? And also, is this latest problem that I only had recently possibly due to an update by firefox or flash? I'm going to have to stop using firefox if I can't fix it which would be a hassle and disappointing. I've been using it for years.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>)<Shift> A)
On the left side of the page, select Plugins. Find Shockwave Flash and press its options. At the bottom is a checkbox labeled; Enable Flash Protected Mode. Turn it off from here.

Tried starting in safe mode, and still had the problem. Also didn't realize I could turn off hardware acceleration from options/advanced, which I did. No change. But that's not specifically in the flash menu, so not sure if it's the same thing.

Odd, tried uninstalling flash and reinstalling. But the installation exe will not work. This is the second installation file I have not been able to get to work in the last month. The first was for a fitbit app. But flash is supposed to work with vista. So something odd is going on there too. So now I don't have flash at all. Probably for the best in the short term as it kept freezing firefox. But what is going on?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lots of sites still use flash for streaming.
I'm trying an update for vista which I may not have which might resolve that one, about a certificate.
