I no longer have Firefox installed on this computer but still get xpcom not found. How do I stop this?

I no longer have Mozilla Firefox installed on my laptop. I use Google Chrome now. I get pop ups saying XPCOM cannot be found. My laptop is crashing. Any ideas?

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.


Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox folders by adding .old to them.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

Did you check the default browser in case Firefox is still set as the default browser?
