Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select Network. Look for Configure How Firefox Connects and press the Settings button. If you are using a proxy, make sure those settings are correct. If there is no proxy, first use No Proxy. If there is a problem, then try System Proxy.

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

• Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).

I have tried this. It asks me if I want to close the windows and restart, so I accept. It then crashes again and give me another error log.

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

• "3-bar" menu button > Exit (Power button)
• Windows: File > Exit
• Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox
• Linux: File > Quit

If you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" then try to disable this feature. To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:

• Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"

When I open FF it brings up a box saying that FF is already running, and the current window needs to be closed to open a new one. If I click ok, it will start and keep trying to connect. I have already uninstalled and then reinstalled FF with no luck. I have also done •Windows: File > Exit with no luck either.

I do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes"

Do you have the Firefox icon on your quick launch? Close Firefox. Right click on the icon and select Open New Tab. Sometimes this works. If it opens, close it by Menu > File > Exit.

Yes it is in my quick launch window. Opening a new tab did not work. I also didn't have any luck with the killfirefox.bat file either.

Would a full removal of FF with a clean uninstaller program do the job?

It could, but you need to shut down Firefox first.

Sometimes when FF is closing, not all of it shuts down properly. On Windows, start the Task Manager. (Other systems may have different names and / or commands). Select Processes. Look down the list for Firefox. Right click and select End Task.
