Are you talking about a search engine, or the search box in the Bookmarks Manager?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

No bookmarks work just fine its the mail search box in the middle of the screen. Thank you muchly for your help greatly appreciated.

Have to go on post op walk now hopefuly touch base later.

Thank you so much for your efforts, chemo brain mistype using mail in my query.

I was on about the mozilla screen that first appears when one opens Mozilla, but wouldn't you know that yesterday and this morning no search facility only through my bookmarks. This afternoon after a delay while updates happened, everthing is back to normal.

Thought you must have waved a magic wand. So for now all is ok.
