Hi, Some of my mail folders appear twice on the folder list, their names are distorted and the messages within them cannot be reached. I closed TB once and reopened and had the affected folders change, but then others were damaged. Closing and opening again does not change anything anymore. Neither does rebooting the machine. I really cannot understand the crash report, but the "modules" section highlights several DLLs in red: msiltcfg.dll winmm.dll fastprox.dll mswsock.dll I tried to download TB again and reinstall, in hope that it would fix the damaged files, but to no avail. I'm afraid to uninstall and loose all my messages.

Thanks, Shahar

Just to add to that: Opening the profile->mail-> I can find the folders of the missing emails apparently intact, but T-bird is creating fake empty folders in there as well. There must be a file somewhere that says what is going on. Can you help me re-connect the files and folders?

Do not worry about losing your mail and other settings. Your profile is NOT stored in the same directory as Thunderbird.

Removing Thunderbird will NOT affect your profile.

Reinstalling Thunderbird will create a new default profile with only the basic settings, no mail, no personal preferences, etc. After a reinstall, Thunderbird has to be told, by the Profile Manager, where to find your old profile that contains everything important to you.

Try to repair just one of the damaged folders. right-click any 'damaged' folder - 'Properties - General Information - Repair Folder' Close and reopen TB and then check the folder again. If it appears improved and messages inside can be accessed, use the same procedure on each of the other 'damaged' folders.

Let us know how you make out. There are other procedures we can try.

Hi gild, Thanks.

I followed your advice: uninstalled. Re-installed. Opening TB was a surprise as nothing has changed. All my folders and emails were there. Even an open tab I had before uninstalling was there again. Even though I was skeptic about that stage, I followed on to the next one: I right-clicked one of the problematic folders -> properties -> correct folder. Something is working, but not stopping (and it is a very small folder to begin with). If I try the same thing on the second 'copy' of this folder, the system doesn't get stuck, but nothing else seem to happen, I'm hoping you have another solution...
