after downloading update and restarting, it does not install and asks to download 39 again. ???
Still running Mac OS 10.9.5. Firefox has asked multiple times to upgrade to Firefox verson 39. But each time I check to download it, it does, and then when I restart, as instructed, it has remained on 37.0.2. It does not ever go ahead and install the new version. ???? This is on a laptop without great excess memory, could this be the problem? (Also this last time, just before it requested to upgrade, I was in the middle of an action and all of the tabs closed, and did not allow me to reopen anything. I had to quit and restart, but lost what I was working on.

Download Firefox Full Version For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
• Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory.
Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox folders by adding .old to them.
Now run the full installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.
