What do you see as the target in the properties of the shortcut?

Can you rename this shortcut to Firefox or does that RVRR text return?

O.K I have followed your instructions to the letter. I had to resize the original screen shot so that the "Brouse" feature below would actually send the picture

Ok, what it looks like happened is that someone (Accidentally or on purpose) renamed the Firefox shortcut to RVRR. Simply right click it, click Rename, and type Mozilla Firefox then press the enter key. That should take care of it.

After that, just from looking at your screenshot there are a few tips I can give you to make your internet browsing better.

You have at least 3 anti-virus programs on your computer. AVG, Norton, and McAfee. You should only have one. I'd suggest removing all 3 of them (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uninstall-change-program#uninstall-change-program=windows-7). Then, install Microsoft Security essentials. windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/security-essentials-download This is a free anti-virus, so it'll save you money if you are paying for any of the above programs, plus it doesn't slow your computer down.

After that, I'd suggest installing all Windows updates (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Install-Windows-updates) and check to make sure you don't have any graphics driver updates, Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL. This should dramatically improve your computer's performance, especially if you play any games.

Then, let's update your plugins, https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

Finally, make sure to sign up for your Free copy of Windows ten that comes out next month. http://www.forbes.com/sites/antonyleather/2015/06/15/windows-10-countdown-how-and-why-to-reserve-your-free-copy/

I hope this helps pick up the pace on your computer and help you use Firefox more effectively :)

In accordance with the suggestions above I was able to rename the shortcut - I do not know where the initials RRVR under the Firefox Icon came from, how they got there or what they mean.

Note that you can consider to make this shortcut read-only to prevent such a change from happening.

I am grateful for the replies I have received and the suggestions offered. However it would still be interesting to discover how theses initials came to be posted beneath the Firefox Desktop Icon, who did it and why. Also what in the name of heaven does RRVR stand for

Likely either accidentally (someone was typing and didn't realize they were typing into the icon's label box, a small child did it, a cat, etc.) or as a prank. The accidental case is extremely common.

Thanks all. Lets call it quits. But it had to be Gremlins because there are kids or cats in this house - just me and I really don't think that I did it
