Hi, While I was browsing through a website I commonly use, an error popped up telling me I had to update or get a flash player to play a song. This was not normal due to the fact I updated Adobe Flash less than a week ago to the latest version from their official website, because of the same problem. I proceeded to the Adobe Flash website and, because I was unable to find any other solution, installed the player again, guessing there was a newer version.

Meanwhile, before installing the "newer" version, I tried the same link on the other browsers I had -- Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. Surprisingly, it worked. However, I prefer firefox so I am still trying to solve this problem.

The installer told me to close firefox, so I did. After what seemed like a successful installation, I opened Firefox again and re-tried the link, as well as a few others. The same message popped up, and it was NOT an ad - I am perfectly capable of recognizing a website message from an ad. I then went on another website, and the following message popped up: "Adobe Flash Player is out of date. Please update. Current version: 0.0.0"

Surprised from all of this, I proceeded to check my Flash Player. I did so on multiple websites, and they all gave the same answers - that my flash player is missing. That is quite strange, taking the fact I updated it a week ago, and 15 minutes before checking it. What I have also noticed, is that I am still capable of opening youtube videos and listening to some songs. That is about all I am currently capable of doing.

I don't want to change my browser, since I've used Firefox for a long time and prefer it in front of other browsers. Please help me leave it that way. I've never had this happen to me. Thanks in advance. ~ Trif

In case needed, the website I was listening songs from was SoundCloud. www.soundcloud.com

I can see that Firefox doesn't detect Adobe Flashplayer. Please check out this page from Adobe about installation issues.

Try the following:

  1. Close Firefox
  2. Open the Windows run dialog
  3. Type %appdata% and run it
  4. Open the Mozilla folder
  5. Open the Firefox folder
  6. Open the profiles folder
  7. Open the folder with the .default at the end
  8. Rename the pluginreg.dat to pluginregbackup.dat
  9. Uninstall Adobe Flashplayer from your computer
  10. Reinstall Adobe Flashplayer from here

Please ensure that Flashplayer is activated. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to about:addons
  2. Select Plugins
  3. Locate Shockwave Flash
  4. Select Always Activate from the drop-down menu

If this does not solve the issue, please ensure that you are giving Soundcloud permission to run Flashplayer. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Soundcloud
  2. Click the block icon in the address bar
  3. Select Allow and remember from the drop-down menu

These steps should solve the issue, but if it does not, please report back.

I'm sorry I can't seem to find the plugin. None of what you listed above works. Like I mentioned, I installed it and updated it. SoundCloud does not seem to be the problem since I can play most of the songs fine. On the other hand, I just tried flash games, and that doesn't seem to work.

What I've noticed is that on almost every web page I go, a block icon with an arrow going down shows up near the address of the page. When clicked on, it asks me whether I'd like to install the plugins needed for the page. When selected, it has "flash player" as selected and the only option is manual install. When clicked, it redirects me to the adobe flash player website, which is still useless.

So nothing of what you listed above works. Thanks again. ~Trif

Ok thank you, that worked. SoundCloud is still having trouble with some tracks, but I am guessing it is the website's fault. All websites work now and it seems to be going smooth. Thank you.
