Firefox Sync woes

I've recently switched to an Android phone (Sony Xperia Z3) so have been keen to use Firefox Sync in order to have all my bookmarks in the Android version of Firefox, but it is proving to be easier said than done.

I'm finding that some folders arrive on the phone empty or with bookmarks missing and bookmarks from the bookmarks toolbar appear in folders in the bookmarks menu and vice versa. As a result, I'm left frustrated at not having my bookmarks on the phone.

To make matters worse, it is also affecting my desktop bookmarks.

I have tried deleting the Sync account and creating it again but the problems start straight away after syncing each time. I've also cleared the data from the Firefox Android app and have also uninstalled and resintalled it but the same problems keep on occurring.

I would really like to use FF on my phone but if I'm unable to sync my bookmarks, I'll have to use Chrome or Opera instead.

Can anyone advise on why this is happening please? Or better yet, how to resolve it so my bookmarks arrive on my phone where they are supposed to be please?

I'm using FF v34.0 on both the desktop and phone.

Thanks for any help :)

Hi Nick2012, Ideally the bookmarks should merge and on either device, the bookmarks will be in the Mobile Bookmarks Folder or the Desktop Bookmarks folder. However I understand that the bookmarks in the bookmark toolbar have bookmarks that are missing and bookmarks from the bookmarks toolbar appear in folders in the bookmarks menu. Do you have another sync service installed on ether of the devices?

If not, it may be useful to put all of your bookmarks on your desktop in the bookmark menu to see if they all sync in just that folder. Currently this is where I keep all of mine and they do not merge to other folders.

Does this help?

I placed them all in the bookmarks toolbar folder and that seems to have resolved the problem....so pretty much the same thing you advised.

Thanks very much :)
