Firefox 33 is badly slow on our onlineshop: shop.ms-motorservice.com

Posted

Since Version 33, Firefox seems to load no page under 5 seconds. At our Company, we are using ESR Release 31, which shows no such weaknesses. I've downloaded a Portable Version, so this is a fresh install. Has anybody an idea what is wrong here? Other sites don't have this problem.

To reproduce this, you can log in with a guest account. Try some search function, for example for vehicles. You can browse the site as you want, but no matter what you do: you wait at least 5 seconds.

The Network log in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) shows a lot of 301 Moved permanently responses, so Firefox needs to repeat a lot of requests. I see a total of 200 requests and only about 960 KB and that takes over 20 secs.

Maybe look into that and make sure that all request only need to be done once.

Cleared my Cache and tried to delete my Profile. There is no function to delete my Profile. No Change. That would have surprised me, because in a new Installation the chache is empty and there is no Profile data.

Hello core-el,

thank you for your help. Will check this. Anyway, something must have been changed, because only Version 33 seems to be affected. Was there a Change in this Version regarding Network Settings?

I've checked this. We have 2 Problems here. The Main Problem is that Firefox doesn't cache all the small files anymore. The Problem was introduced with Version 32. If I try Version 31, after 1 Access, Contents are cached and for all following sites, there are only 4 (!) requests. Although not optimal, the 301 error is not the main Problem. However, we are working at this.

I've found the error. It is because Caching is disabled in Firefox by Default. The Default Options are: disable automatic Cache Management. The Cache is set to 0 MB. Together this disables Caching completely. Seems you should have better testing...
