</p><p>All "channel" versions are available for anyone that wants to "test" them, to see what is "coming down the road", or to contribute to the development of Firefox.
</p><p>The "life cycle" of each new version of Firefox is 24 weeks.
6 weeks in the Nightly channel in Alpha 1 development.
6 weeks in the Developer Edition / Aurora channel - Alpha 2.
6 weeks in the Beta channel - "fit and finish" stage. <em>(And very rarely a new, smaller feature is added in Beta when it was developed off the normal "channel route" in secret. Has happened just once, iirc, somewhat recently.)</em>
