Followed all instructions and updated plugins, then updated graphics drivers. Not sure which did the track but firefox back to running nice and smooth... so no need to switch to Chrome!!!

I'm experiencing the same issue. I'm experiencing similar keyboard input events being very slow to be processed, with FF 33.02 on windows 7. This was also reported independently by other users into https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1077030

I'm experiencing this lag when using the address bar, or using web sites (e.g. google docs) which become unuseable. Not better after starting from a fresh profile, updating all plugins, I tried resetting firefox https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems without more luck.

I thought it could come from by computer, but the problem does not reproduce in chrome or other windows apps, only in FF

The problem is caused by the new "off main thread composition" feature which was enabled in Firefox 33. You can disable this in the Firefox preferences by changing the value of layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled to false.

I opened the bug you mentioned two weeks before the release of Firefox 33, but never received any feedback. I even sent an email directly to the developer but didn't receive an answer. It gives the impression, that the developer is not interested in feedback.

@gberche: could you post your troubleshooting information too? maybe this can show some similarities between your set-ups...

in addition please run a scan with adwcleaner and free version of malwarebytes for testing purposes. i have seen a few omtc-releated graphic glitches reported by other users that turned out to be caused by malware (they had other symptoms like you're describing though, so this is just to play safe...)

@gberche, thank you very much! mozilla's enigneers are actively working on the issue. what you could do on your end is to update your graphics drivers through http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%207%20-%2064 and try it with layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = true again.

@gberche: ati has been taken over by amd a while ago. the link provided above is the latest driver available that turns up when you search http://support.amd.com/en-us/download for your configuration.

@philipp thanks for the clarification around ATI and AMD, I had missed that, sorry.

Unfortunately the latest AMD driver are incompatible with my acer model and result into a blue screen of death. I updated to latest acer available ones which were issued in 2009. I confirm the firefox bug still reproduce unless turning explicitly layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = false
