sec_error-unknown_issuer message in Beta 33

more options

All of a sudden, Firefox 33 presents a Connection is Untrusted message when I try to log in to https://my.yahoo.com/. The option to continue anyway is unavailable, and I only can select Get Me Out of Here. Safe mode does not help, nor does deleting the cert file.

my.yahoo.com uses the same cert as the main site. Do you get an error for

https://www.yahoo.com/

as well?

Any errors on other secure sites?

Thanks. At https://www.yahoo.com/, I get to the main page. When I try to sign in, Yahoo usually will not recognize my username/password (it definitely is entered correctly). I also have the problem at Gmail. At Gmail, I have to no option to "Undersdtand the Risks" and proceed. MSIE works fine. However, it seems that I get the Untrusted Connection message at every site at which I want to log on. For example, AOL.com. At AOL, I was able to add an exception and get to the screen where I enter my creds. However, that screen was not the usual screen, but was missing the normal view with graphics,.

hello, a possible solution depends on different factors. in case the error code equals sec_error_unknown_issuer, please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page on a page where this is possible & then inspect the certificate (see the screenshot attached for instructions):

  • which issuer information does the certificate contain?

thank you!

"This Connection is Untrusted" error message appears - What to do

Thank you. I attached a screenshot. Websense is a web filtering application, and I know that we are having issues with it.

you'll probably have to contact your it department to find a way to import this missing SoM Websense root certificate into the firefox trust store. at the moment this interception of secure connections by the web monitoring software will look like a man-in-the-middle attack for firefox...

Thanks again. I will do that, but is there a workaround or some extension through which I can disable the Untrusted site notice entirely? Why does the problem happen only on some https sites and not others?

I'm having the same problem on v.28, and now v.32. It started 2 days ago for no apparent reason.

On top of that, lastpass and livegold are not compatible with v.32??? Are you kidding?

No problem with Opera.

One more thing, I had many extension icons in the status bar. Now there's no more status bar. So how do I get the icons back or better yet, how do I get the status bar back on?

Customization of icons and toolbars is way more limited now.

The drop down menu on the right is completely useless. It's been on windows 8 for a while.

=> v.32 = sorry, but MAJOR FAIL

Hi madlynx, are you using WebSense as a filter like the original poster in this thread? If you are having issues with other security software (or malware), I suggest starting a new question: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/new/desktop/fix-problems

With your personal system information and a few troubleshooting steps we can discover the source of your individual certificate errors.

Regarding add-on compatibility, have you already checked for updates with those vendors? Firefox can't always update proprietary add-ons.

To restore elements of the earlier UI, please see the suggestions in this article: How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox.
