Why does Firefox close just because I closed the last tab?

more options

If I wanted to close the whole application, I would close the whole application. If I have one tab left and I close it, I want a blank tab. What is wrong with you guys now days? You are making such stupid decisions and shoving them down the user's throats. Did Ballmer takeover Mozilla or something?

I think what you want is, when you close the last tab in a window, the window stays open instead of closing. There is a setting for that:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste tab and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab preference to switch it from true to false.

When you close the last time, Firefox should display the "new tab" page. To close the window, you can use the "red X" button.
