Chosen solution

Thank you for checking, the instructions to obtain logs for investigation on errors are below:

  • How do I turn on sync logs:
  1. Open about:config and turn on: services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess and services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks
  2. Restart Firefox and look at: about:sync-log
  3. Logs and error messages will be located here

It is possible to copy and paste log examples into a post or use https://pastebin.mozilla.org thank you.

Hi DavidO88888, Thank you for your question, I understand that you have set up firefox sync and that bookmarks are not syncing to an Android device.

Please check two:

  1. Unattach the account from the list of accounts on the device and readd the device.
  2. Make sure that bookmarks are checked on the desktop device, this is the controller of what to sync.

If there are still issues please try this:

  1. Attach Firefox for Android and save a bookmark from the device.
  2. Wait, then check to see on the Desktop if the bookmark shows up in the Mobile Bookmark folder.

Please post back with your results, thank you!

I removed Firefox Sync account; I verified that bookmarks is checked to sync on PC; I added Firefox Sync account; Bookmarks won't sync. I bookmarked on Android but it does not sync to PC mobile bookmarks folder.

I have Firefox 33.1 on my Android phone. When I go into about:config and do a search on the word "sync", the services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess and services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks settings do not appear.

I've installed Firefox for Android. I've updated Firefox Desktop to new version. I've synced both desktop and android with new version of Firefox sync (username & password). Bookmarks and open tabs are synced, BUT search by keywords on Firefox android doesn't work! I've found that keywords on desktop version work but keywords on android version are not synced! All my bookmarks haven't any keyword synced on android version! Why?!? Help!

Firefox is v33.1

As czmyt says: on Android "sync" word in about:config does not appear.

Might be auto-sync settings in Android causing this. You can try going to Android's settings > Accounts & sync, and then you can enable auto-sync data, or tap on Firefox and manually sync it.

I was able to solve the problem finally after getting hints from other message threads that it might be caused by my having a large number of bookmarks. I have about 5,000 of them. I ended up getting it to work by removing the sync relationship on my cellphone, backing up the bookmarks in my desktop Firefox, removing all but about 200 bookmarks in my desktop Firefox, reestablishing the sync relationship on my cellphone and waiting for it to sync, restoring the bookmarks in my desktop Firefox, removing all but 1,500 of them, forcing a sync operation, restoring the bookmarks in my desktop Firefox, removing all but 3,000 of them, forcing a sync operation, restoring the bookmarks in my desktop Firefox, then forcing a sync operation. There's obviously some kind of limit that was being reached when I was trying an initial sync with 5,000 bookmarks that caused the entire sync operation to fail.

Hey guys, I would recommend starting a new thread. There is a limit of 5k for the bookmarks on android and the sync logs enabled do shed light on what might be happening for options that do not sync. And usually its the auto-sync data, the bookmark limit or need to start a new session. However if none of these help please consider a new thread for a new investigation.

I will lock this thread.
