hello, just got a new Outlook email, which works fine on phone Android samsung App and outlook web mail. it refuses to set up on thunderbird [ up to date version] on Windows 8.1 PC- showing a message like " user authenticated but not connected" No idea what that means! Other emails in T'bird are fine. Settings were EXACTLY as shown on mozilla support. does anyone know what going on , or what the proper settings actually are, please.? Thanks Robin

I previously posted a question and it was answered by Matt however, the answer did not bring me a solution. Here it is again: I had a folder named Documents where I used to store important emails, receipts etc. I believe that after compacting the emails my folder disapeared along with 90 % of the content and now I have a new folder named Dolcuments 1 which I did not create myself. Can some one tell me perhaps how can I recover my previous folder ? and NO the repair option for the folder doesn't work.

When I open Thunderbird, new emails download fine from multiple accounts (from 3 different ISPs), but after a time which varies, Thunderbird no longer fetches new emails and even the cloud icon (Get Messages) no longer works forcing me to close and reopen Thunderbird which then will download new emails again.. I checked settings, and all look fine. I have used Thunderbird for many years and this is the first time it has happened. Any ideas? Using Windows 10 Home 19045.5011, Thunderbird 128.3.1esr (64-bit). I noticed this when responding to calendar invitations from folks with Google accounts. Google sends me a bounce message rejecting the calendar acceptance notifications because they are not signed with DKIM, since my DMARC settings require all messages to be signed with DKIM. However, the recipient still sees my calendar response in their Google calendar, which is interesting. I checked my sent messages and was surprised to see that the calendar acceptance from Thunderbird is sent without the normal DKIM signature configured on my email server. I run Postfix with port 587 for sending email using the submission protocol, and Dovecot on port 993 (IMAP/S). I may be able to set my Postfix installation to sign the calendar notifications with DKIM using a header check, however, that requires some advanced configuration and I'm not really sure it's possible-- I also noticed that my normal header checks do not seem to trigger when sending these calendar notifications. My question would be why Thunderbird acceptances/declines are not sent through the normal SMTP channels that would trigger a DKIM signature. I didn't see any configuration options for how acceptances and declines are generated, or how to send them.

Hi, We absolutely don't want the Microsoft Outlook mail program that they are forcing on Windows Mail users. I can no longer access my emails through that program.

We need to know the key features of Thunderbird and if possible how it compares to the "NEW" Outlook amil.

I ask the comparison in part because we mainly don't like the forced use of the "cloud" aspect to their program and apparently having to sign in to it every time I try to open Windows mail.

Your prompt response is appreciated as I can no longer access our two personal email accounts through Windows Mail.

I was away from my computer for a few days and when I got back to it and tried to download emails, they wouldn't download even though they had done so prior to my absence. I have tried everything to get it to work to no avail as per "help" advice on community support - nothing has worked as yet. I am now at a total loss and extremely frustrated. Could you please give me some practical advice as to how to sort this out. I believe I have the latest update installed since the program tells me I do. I use Windows 11

As of 10 October 2024 my Thunderbird account coupled with gmail exhibits the following symptoms: 1: Will no longer download new messages beyond 9 October. I get the message: Connected to imap.gmail.com 2: When sending messages I get the message: [Location] smtp.gmail.com:465 [Get Certificate] When I view the information, I get information as per the attached screen.

Could it be anything to do with the Win10 update of 9 October? Or/and Norton 360?

Normally I have been able to right click on an email in the main Thunderbird window, and then select an option to delete the email. For some reason I am no longer able to do this. It appears that the right click menu has changed and the delete email option has been removed. I am able to select an email and then delete it by pressing the delete button on my keyboard, but I would rather achieve the deletion using my mouse alone (ie not having to use the keyboard). I have tried all the suggestions offered on forums and other online sites to no avail. I don't understand why no-one has bothered to help and I certainly don't understand why this happened at all. I went into hospital for 4 days and when I came back home, Thunderbird had stopped working and will not download any emails. I have 128.3.1esr (64-bit) and I use Windows 11. Account settings are fine Server settings have not changed Cache has been cleared

If I look at the same email in Google Mail it comes in OK. I am not able to read some emails in Thunderbird and I am losing some important information.
