Can I uninstall Firefox 8 and reinstall 3.6 while also retaining my bookmarks and the tabs I now have open in Firefox 8?
After upgrading to Firefox 8.0.1 I discovered that I very much dislike its layout, appearance, and operation. Is it possible for me to revert to Firefox 3.6 in some simple way that would preserve my bookmarks, history, scrapbook, and current tabs? That is, is it feasible to install Firefox 3.6 over 8.0.1 without making it a brand new installation, losing everything that currently exists after I upgraded to 8.0.1? I am fearful of trying that without some guidance. I do have the Firefox 3.6 setup file stored on my computer. Regards, Ben Adkins

Firefox 3.6 will only be supported for a few more months, so downgrading might not be the wisest move.

You will need to be more specific on the "and operation" part.
You can make Firefox 4-current versions look very similar to Firefox 3.6
- You can change the interface to look much like Firefox 3.6.x. See:

- Firefox 3 Theme for Firefox 4: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firefox-3-theme-for-firefox/
- Add color home, back/forward and other buttons (like Firefox 3) to the Navigation Toolbar in place of the gray buttons in Firefox 4
- See: http://ffaddons.game-point.net/ff3ff4/

- To regain some of the functionality of the former Status Bar (replaced by the Add-on Bar):
- Install the Status-4-Evar extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
- After install,
- Be sure the Add-on Bar is displayed; View > Toolbars, click to check "Add-on Bar"
- In View > Toolbars > Customize drag any or all of the 3 items to the position you want them on the Add-on Bar:
- Status text (this is the URL information you want)
- Download status (will display No Downloads or number of downloads in progress)
- Progress meter (meter of page loading)
- Set the options for Status-4-Evar in Tools > Add-ons > Extensions

You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:

The answer to your question is yes. But, like SafeBrowser said, it might not be best. We also have an article to answer some questions you might have about the new version of Firefox - Common questions after upgrading from Firefox 3.6
I havent installed the new Firefox yet for exactly this reason. Its been installed on my wifes machine and I absolutely hate the new layout. My wife doesnt like it either. For one. I DONT want the tabs on top above the address bar. this makes no sense to me and seems anything but intuitive. I want the menu also to be exactly where it was and how its laid ou. Basically I wantot be able to set up the new version to look exactly like the old one.
If we can customize the layout to be more like 3.6 I'll be more then happy to upgrade. If not then I will keep running 3.6 for as long as I can then move to a different browser if thats what it takes. But I am really not liking the layout of this newest version at all.

Those Firefox 9.0 issues are easily changed using the information that SafeBrowser posted.
