Cannot sign in on some websites using Firefox. When sign in is clicked on nothing happens. The rest of the website works. Sign in works using other web browers.

When I go to some sites to sign in, nothing happens. I can click on it and do not get the box for sign in. If I use different web browser, everything works as usual.

Are you using Avast or AVG ? a little more info would be helpful.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.

Firefox shows the shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case content is blocked by Tracking Protection.

  • click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection
  • You can check the Web Console by Tracking Protection
  • "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer
