On Asus' driver download page, Firefox doesn't show content after selecting a OS

more options

System: Asus X555LB Laptop with Windows 10 x64 OS

Steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Using Firefox safe mode, open any Asus product's "driver and tools" page: https://www.asus.com/Laptops/X555LB/HelpDesk_Download/

2. On the drop-down menu, choose any OS

3. No corresponding download item shows up.

Expeted behavior: Show up a list of driver items to download. Chrome and Edge both works fine here.

Any idea why does this happen?

To investigate whether the issue could be a content blocker, please check these possibilities:

(1) Built-in Tracking Protection feature (especially in private windows).

Do you see a shield icon toward the left end of the toolbar (next to the green lock) when this problem hits? More info on how to use the shield to manage blocking: What happened to Tracking Protection?.

That page runs part of its functionality through a script from GoogleTagManager.com, which is on the Tracking Protection block list.

(2) Content blocking extensions such as Adblock Plus, Blur, Disconnect, Ghostery, NoScript, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin or uMatrix.

These typically provide toolbar buttons to manage blocked content in a page. If you make an exception for the currently displayed site, does that help at all?

Err...I said I tried Firefox safe mode (AFAIU it disables all plugins and content blockers) and it didn't work out.

If it's not Tracking Protection, then perhaps your Firefox requests run through a filter that is blocking the Google Tag Manager site.

Looks likes you're right. the dev console shows the javascript error, safe mode or not:

Loading failed for the <script> with source “https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtm.js?id=GTM-NJRLM8”

Also, here's a picture of another error immediately showed up after I tried to select an OS: "ReferenceError: ga is not defined"

which I've found it defined in the jquery library, but somehow Firefox couldn't find that. Any idea why?

If I have Tracking Protection enabled (the only way I can re-create this error):

The resource at “https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtm.js?id=GTM-NJRLM8” was blocked because tracking protection is enabled. [Learn More]

Loading failed for the <script> with source “https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtm.js?id=GTM-NJRLM8”.

Then after changing the value in the drop-down:

ReferenceError: ga is not defined [Learn More]

The page at the Learn More link isn't specific enough for me to identify the issue, other than, it seems necessary for Google Tag Manager to load before it works.
