I want yahoo off my browser compeltely. Didn't ask for it,dont want it. How?
It's taken over home page. Although google is my home page, I have to go to tools, default home page, press home page on page and it goes to google. When I close and re-open browser, YAHOO! It's annoying. I've removed every trace I can find in pc, including browser, programs, registry, to no avail. I don't know how it got on, as I'm careful not to allow programs to sneak it on, via sneaky install de-select buttons. I just want rid of it. If I wanted it, I'd pick it. In my opinion, it's rubbish, and I shouldn't have to put up with this issue. It seems to rely on sneaking onto the pc via other programs. I like firefox and its variations, but if this is not resolved I will turn my back on it. I've always been an advocate of choice, and in the early days, used Netscape instead of I.E. I've used many browsers in Windows and Linux (it has never happened in Linux), and I've used Firefox as my browser of choice since inception. Please help.

Hello ronin1960, please make a new profile and check firefox again.

thank you
In my opinion it is due to some sort of browser extension rather than 3rd party program ( your prefs.js and user.js is not hijacked). So I would disable all plugins that are not from major companies, restart FF, then change search/new tab related settings and check if they stay after restart. Another possible issue might be that your browser protection (Advanced SystemCare Surfing Protection ) extension is resetting these settings. Check if yahoo is not set as default search engine somewhere in Advanced System Care (which I would recommend to throw away )
Hello, it seems that exists 2 the keyword.URL's (keyword.URL and keyword.url) in your settings, and it is set to http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?fr=greentree_ff1&ei=utf-8&ilc=12&type=198484&p= .
The preference keyword.url is not exist on Firefox 23 and above, except if you use keyword.URL Hack! add-on, but i can't see the add-on in the seetings!.
That's why suggest a new fresh profile.
thanks again
