Cannot open Firefox 19.0 setup after downloading
I am currently running Firefox ESR 17.0.3. It cannot automatically update to the latest versions and tells me to do it manually, but that won't work either. After d/l of 19.0.1 and 19.0.2, both setup .exe wind up stalling after almost completing opening, saying that "access is denied zip 7". I am not going to delete my current version without getting the update up and running. What is going on???

Please make sure you are the administrator of the computer, that no firewalls are blocking access to it and to try a reboot of the pc.
Thanks. I will try it....but all the problems with 19.0 versions that I see posted here makes me a little leery. I might just stick with my trusty 17.0.3 for now.
It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is otherwise interfering with downloading files.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
See:
- browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
I will try that (again), but doubt it will work. I have disabled firewalls and real-time protection, with the same results. I think I am doomed to staying with 17.0.3, which works just fine. Thanks, though.
Thanks to the well-meaning folks who responded, but let me be clear: all of the suggested things have been tried, several times, to no avail. Firewalls and real-time protection have been disabled, alternate folders for d/l have been selected, reboots in safe mode have been tried, etc. etc. etc. I fail to understand why Mozilla, with all of its obviously loyal and enthusiastic users, hasn't put a tech support staff in place to solve the problems that can't be solved here in the "civilian" community...but they haven't, so... Anyway, somebody out there is having the same problem as me, and also hasn't found the solution on these pages, so I anticipate more chatter at some point in the future. Maybe then I will be able to update my version...
Did you try to download a new version of the Firefox installer after booting Windows in Safe mode to make sure that third-party security software is disabled and can't interfere?
