Which firefox is the source and which the destination to be overwritten?

I want to use firefox sync but I am afraid to begin until I know which version of firefox is considered to be the source and which firefox will be overwritten. Right now I want to overwrite the version of firefox on my portable with the version on my PC. At a later time I will probably want to reverse the process.

Will the system warn me which way the data is being copied, or allow me to specify?

If you select Options > sync and then open the drop-down box Manage account, you will also have a possibility to Reset sync - i.e. reset sync for the system you are on. There's three alternatives:

  • merge all data on the system with Sync data
  • replace all data on the system with Sync data
  • replace all Sync data with data on your system

The first - default - option is probably what you are looking for. I have been using so far and it has not caused me any problems, save for a case or two of double entries - outdated pwd against a more recent one for instance.

Let us know if it helped!
