This article deals with websites not appearing correctly in Firefox.

Reset the page style

You may have inadvertently set the page style to "No Style". To ensure Firefox is set to use the page's default style:

  • Press the Alt key to temporarily bring up the traditional Firefox menusAt the top of the Firefox windowAt the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click on the View menu, then select Page Style, then click Basic Page Style.

Now that the page is using its default style, it may be displayed correctly.

Clear the cache

Firefox caches websites, which means it saves some files on your machine so that it doesn't have to re-download everything when you visit sites. If a website has updated their code, Firefox may still be using some of the old code along with some of the new, which can make a web page display incorrectly. To fix this, you need to clear the cache:

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click OptionsOn the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Preferences...At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Edit menu and select PreferencesAt the top of the Firefox window, click on the Tools menu and select Options...On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Preferences...At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Edit menu and select Preferences...
  2. Select the Advanced panel.
  3. Click on the Network tab.
  4. In the Offline Storage section, click Clear Now.
  5. Click OK to close the Options windowClick Close to close the Preferences windowClose the Preferences window

Now that your cache is cleared, visit the website again to see if the problem is solved.

Reset Zoom

Some websites may not look right at different zoom levels. To reset Zoom setting, for the site, press Ctrl + 0command + 0 and for all sites, see the documentation about the Zoom add-on you use.

Reset the minimum font size

Some sites do not display properly with a minimum font size. To reset the minimum font size:

  2. Click to select the Content panel.
  3. In the Fonts & Colors section, click Advanced....
  4. Change the Minimum font size to None.

Check that JavaScript is enabled and not blocked

Some sites require JavaScript to display properly. JavaScript is enabled by default in Firefox, but to check its status:

  2. Click to select the Content panel.
  3. Make sure that Enable JavaScript is checked.
  4. Click OK to close the Options windowClick Close to close the Preferences windowClose the Preferences window

You should also check whether you have an extension (such as NoScript) or Internet security program (such as a firewall, antivirus, or anti-spyware program) that can block JavaScript.

Disable problematic extensions or hardware acceleration

Some extensions may interfere with the way websites are displayed or your graphics card and drivers don't display some web content correctly when hardware acceleration is turned on. Follow the instructions in the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article to see if one of these is causing the problem.

Report the website

Occasionally you may come across a page that simply doesn't work in Firefox. If that happens, please report the problem to Mozilla as follows:

These instructions only work on the latest version of Firefox. If you are using an older version you should update Firefox.
  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button, go over to the Help menu (For Windows XP: click the Help menu) and select Submit Feedback....At the top of the Firefox window, click the Help menu and select Submit Feedback....On the menu bar, click the Help menu and select Submit Feedback.... 3. On the Firefox Made Me Sad page that comes up, briefly describe the problem with the website, check the box, and enter the URL.
  4. Click the Submit Feedback button.
At time of writing, you can't report a broken website because the Submit Report process does not complete. Mozilla is aware of this problem.
